Day job
I’m the CTO at Wonderbly, a group of personalised book brands that meet different audience needs.
On the side
I like to advise early-stage founders and other CTOs in my network, whenever they find it helpful. Every now and then I invest as well.
My advise can be useful when:
-
Scaling e-commerce tech, and knowing when not to build it. At Wonderbly we built nearly everything: the books, the rendering, the storefront, the headless e-commerce and the fulfilment. Everything except the printing. This has been a blessing and a curse.
-
Personalised and print-on-demand businesses. Every book we sell is one of one. I know where that gets hard, from rendering to the warehouse.
-
Small tech teams that survive growth. How to hire, shape and run an engineering team so it keeps shipping as the company around it grows.
How I got here
- 2016 to now: Wonderbly, Group CTO. Wonderbly is destination brand for personalised books given as gifts, made to deepen the bond between children and the people who love them. We are scaling new brands like Historic Newspapers and Plucky Books. Been on the journey since venture capital, PE and now within Penguin Random House.
- Before that: software leadership in weather, travel, publishing and scientific research, with a some other exits along the way. If you ever want to know more, ask.
